WELCOME TO YEN HALL FARM

Yen Hall Farm is the heart of Sarah Humphrey's successful training operation. Sarah is a dedicated, hard working racehorse trainer who has held a dual purpose public licence since March 2008 having previously held a permit, trained point to pointers and evented.

The 2011-2012 season closed on 28 April 2012 and was Sarah's best season so far. The yard was in sparkling form and Sarah won more than £100,000 in prize money for her owners during the season! She had 24 wins from just 98 runs, giving her one of the very best strike rates of all the trainers in the country. In addition, Sarah had seven 2nds, sixteen 3rds and nine 4ths, so that her horses were in the "winners' enclosure" a remarkable 56 times from the 98 runs, an amazing tally, giving the owners lots of fun and satisfaction. The 2012-2013 season started on 29 April 2012 during the wettest period of weather we have seen for a long time! As the soft ground horses had already started their break and the ground doesn't suit our good or summer ground horses, Sarah has only had three runners since the start of the new jumps season, two of them in flat races. Chain of Events, owned by Peter Edwards and ridden by Jim Crowley, had his first run for Sarah at Windsor on bank holiday Monday, 7 May and finished 3rd, which was a very good result, particularly as he had been off the track for over 217 days. Dorset Square, who has been disappointing for owner, John Waterfall, over hurdles ran with more promise to finish 2nd over 1 mile 6 furlongs at Southwell on Wednesday, 9 May. Since then, Brass Monkey, having his first run for Sarah, won the bumper at Southwell on 15 May. We have some lovely horses, nicely tuned up and raring to go jumping once the ground starts to improve and a couple more flat horses who we are looking forward to seeing on the track shortly. All in all, we are very excited about the prospects for the coming months!

Sarah's plan is to remain a relatively small, hands-on trainer with no more than a couple of dozen horses so that she really can give each of the horses individual attention. Being based with her husband and family at Yen Hall Farm, a working arable and sheep farm of 250 acres in South Cambridgeshire, about eight miles from Newmarket, is ideal as it creates a relaxed environment for the horses, with plenty of paddocks but with great facilities at home and the superb training grounds in Newmarket just a 20 minute box drive away.

Future Champion!

Cilla (aka Pentasilea, a former winner for Sarah) had her foal on 4 April. He is a very good looking son of Midnight Legend - very straight and a good size. This is Cilla's second foal, both colts, and she is a great mum - as you can see from the pictures. Her first foal is now a two year old and will be coming to Yen Hall Farm later in the summer to be handled and to start learning about life away from the stud.
